Elon Musk's Hyperloop dream could become a reality as early as 2015

Tesla Motors founder Elon Musk released his design for the futuristic transit system, Hyperloop, in August 2013 and that dream could become a reality as early as 2015.

The transportation system will get one from Los Angeles to San Francisco in just half an hour and it will be made by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Inc.

Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Inc. has been announced by JumpStartFund, which is a crowdsourcing and crowdfunding website.

The ex-director of mission operations for Space X, Marco Villa, and Patricial Galloway, former president of the American Society of Civil Engineers are spearheading the project.

Per Galloway, the concept is not a dream and very much real.

"The feasibility is done. What we're working on now is moving toward conceptual design," Galloway said.

Per Galloway, the Hyperloop could revolutionize transportation and may one day replace trains and airplanes as means of getting from one destination to another.

"It's similar to what the Concorde did for air transport," said Galloway. "This will revolutionize how we transport people from city to city.

The Hyperloop is essentially a massive silver hovercraft full of people that can speed up to 800 miles an hour.

"We have already virtually tested an initial concept of the Hyperloop," said Sandeep Sovani, director of automotive and ground transportation industry at ANSYS, using simulation technology used today by major manufacturers of aircraft, rockets, trains and automobiles.

Come March 2014, the company is expected to have an updated whitepaper for release, which will detail how the prototype is built.
