We're still several hours out from CES's official kickoff, but Withings has already launched two of the more compelling products of the show - and they're get this, a thermometer and a fitness tracker.
So, what could possibly make a fitness tracker compelling these days? A $69 price point certainly helps. The company, which has made a name with a series of premium health products is going the dirt-cheap route with the Go.
And, yeah, at first glance, it's pretty clear that this isn't intended to compete directly with the Garmins - or even the FitBits - of the world. The Go looks a bit like something you'd get out of one of those quarter machines at the supermarket. It's brightly colored and rubber and features a low cost, low energy E Ink display that flashes as it refreshes.
But it works. It tracks steps distance, running and even sleep, making for a pretty compelling product for those who don't want to shell out $100 and up to keep track of their activity.
