Snake's mission continues to be a PlayStation favorite, according to publisher Konami.
Hidden away in Konami's quarterly report was the fact that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes sold three times as many copies on PlayStation 4 than on Xbox One.
These sales results can be teased out by the fact that the company stated that PS4 sales made up for 12 percent of the company's total sales as compared to 4 percent for Xbox One. Ground Zeroes is the only game for those consoles that Konami has released.
A Metal Gear game selling more on PlayStation is not that surprising. Metal Gear Solid 1 (1998, for PS1) through Metal Gear Solid 4 (2008, for PS3) all launched first on the latest PlayStation platform, only coming to other consoles years later. Fans of the Metal Gear series seem to have stuck with Sony when it came to the latest generation's console launches.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a prologue to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Ground Zeroes was released March 18, 2014 and The Phantom Pain is rumored to be released in March 2015. Both titles take place in the past, chronologically after the story of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, but before the plots of Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2.
