Even if it's officially past the holiday season, the weather outside can still be pretty frightful. Luckily, HBO Now's new January additions to its movie and TV show lineup can give you a reason to stay warm indoors.
The dystopian action blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa and Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, has now officially made its HBO streaming service premiere — all just in time for one of the coldest months of the year, giving many the perfect excuse to stay in for a night of movie- and show-binging instead of venturing out into the next given polar vortex.
In addition to Mad Max, considered one of the most outstanding movies of 2015, HBO Now has added the first two Godfather movies compounded into one great binge-worthy picture format for the first time ever for theatrical release. The Godfather Epic, otherwise stylized as The Godfather 1902-1959: The Complete Epic (and sadly, not included in our streaming guide "How to Learn About the Mob by Only Watching Netflix"), which originally compounded the first two parts of Francis Ford Coppola's mafia saga about the Corleone family in a TV miniseries format, will also drop into the queue on the streaming service for the first time ever, so if you're snowed in and have a good 434 minutes at your disposal, it might be a better option than plowing your driveway (or, better yet, taking the cannoli).
Speaking of theatrical debuts — if you were a fan of the HBO original series Entourage in the mid-to-late 2000s and didn't get to see the big screen de facto finale when it was released nationwide earlier this year, you can find out what happened to E, Vince, Johnny Thunder, Turtle and the indelible Ari Gold on Jan. 23.
In addition to some stellar theatrical releases, a number of classics, ranging from bawdy comedies to weighty biopics, are available starting on Jan. 1, including the Molly Ringwald vehicle Pretty in Pink, Oscar winners Milk and Malcom X, Judd Apatow screwballs Tropic Thunder and Knocked Up and the John Waters flick Cry-Baby.
Sadly, gems like Gone Girl, Far from Heaven, Superman Returns and Four Weddings and a Funeral will be leaving come Jan. 31, so if you're planning on catching as many of them as possible before they're gone, you better get to it before the snow melts outside.
