Huawei, through its official Facebook page, revealed that one of the devices that will be announced at the company's press conference at CES 2016 is the Mate 8.
The Huawei Mate 8, which was unveiled in November 2015, packs a 6-inch, 1080p resolution display and will come in two variants with different specifications for internal storage and RAM. Both variants of the smartphone, however, will feature a fingerprint sensor, 4G LTE connectivity, and a 16 MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization. The Huawei Mate 8 will be powered by the company's own octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, which clocks in at 2.3 GHz.
It was reported last month that the Huawei Mate 8 will debut in the United States at CES 2016, and it looks like the company is pushing through with its plans.
The Facebook post made by Huawei features a teaser showing the smartphone wrapped in red with the tagline "Power x Efficiency." The image indicated Jan. 5, 2016, and Las Vegas, pointing to Huawei's press conference at the annual tech event as the venue for the unveiling of the Huawei Mate 8.
The Huawei Mate 8 has actually been launched already in China last month, so the press conference could be focusing on the pricing details and global availability of the smartphone.
The Mate 8 was released with a price tag of about $470 for the 3 GB of RAM model with 32 GB of internal storage and about $580 for the 4 GB of RAM model with 64 GB of internal storage. The 4 GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage version of the device carried a price tag of about $670, while the Huawei Mate 8 Champagne Edition was sold at a price of about $1,080.
Another image posted by Huawei on its official Facebook account features the tagline "Rhythm x Entertainment," with the image showing the side of what looks like another mobile device.
The teased device could be the Huawei Honor X3 phablet, which is rumored to be powered by the same Kirin 950 processor that will be found in the Huawei Mate 8. The phablet is also expected to have a 6.2-inch display with 1,600 x 2,500 pixel resolution, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.
The Huawei Honor X3 tablet is also said to be packing a 20 MP rear-facing camera, an 8 MP front-facing camera, and will be running Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.
Lastly, another image uploaded by Huawei on Facebook shows the tagline "Technology x Fashion," along with what looks like a stylish watch face. The device being teased could be the Huawei Watch 2, which was first reported last month.
The smartwatch, believed to roll out within the year, will have cellular capabilities, as Google's Android Wear operating system for wearable devices is now supporting the function.
The teased Huawei Watch could also be a women's version of the successful first model of the wearable device, which would be the company's attempt to win over the women demographic.
Huawei was reported to be working not just on the Kirin 950 chipset, but also on its own flash memory and GPU, following the footsteps of tech giants Samsung and Apple. Samsung has been working on its own GPU for years, while Apple is also said to be working on its own GPU so it would no longer have to depend on suppliers.
