LG Unveils K Series Smartphones With New 'Glossy Pebble' Design And Advanced Camera Technology

LG Electronics MobileComm USA, Inc. unveiled two new devices that are part of its new line of mass-tier smartphones, called the "K Series," at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Nev. on Monday.

The two new K Series smartphones, the K10 and K7, are the first to feature the company's "glossy pebble" design, which is built to attract the younger and more modern consumer. The glossy pebble design features a curved modern finish and features no buttons on the sides of the devices for a clutter-free and clean feel. Adding to the premium feel of the design is LG's new 2.5D Arch Glass, which is included on both K Series devices.

The LG K10 features a 5.3-inch HD In-cell Touch display, with the LTE option of a 1.2 GHz or 1.3 GHz quad-core/1.14 GHz octa-core chipset or a 3G option with a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone also comes with with either 2 GB, 1.5 GB or 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB or 8 GB of ROM.

The K10 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop, has a 2,300 mAh battery and comes in either white, indigo or gold color options.

The LG K7 features a five-inch FWVGA In-cell Touch (LTE) or On-cell Touch (3G) display, with the LTE option of a 1.1 GHz quad-core or the 3G option with a 1.3 GHz quad-core chipset. The K7 comes with either 1.5 GB or 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB or 8 GB of ROM. The smartphone also runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is equipped with a 2,125 mAh battery. The LTE option comes in only the titan color option, whereas the 3G option comes in white, black or gold.

Along with its sleek and modern body, the K Series smartphones are also packed with LG's advanced camera technology. This includes Gesture Shot capability, which lets the user snap a photo by just raising their open hand in front of the lens and making a fist, as well as LG's Gesture Interval Shot technology that takes four consecutive photos when the user clenches their first twice.

Both devices feature flash for the front-facing selfie camera. The K10 LTE version is equipped with a 13 MP rear and either 8 MP or 5 MP front-facing camera, whereas the 3G version features an 8 MP rear and 8 MP or 5 MP front-facing camera. The K7 includes a rear 8 MP or 5 MP camera and 5 MP front-facing camera.

The two new mass-tier smartphones are on display at the LG booth at CES from Jan. 6 to 9. Prices and release dates are not yet known.
