The new 2016 Sentra is in, sporting a similar look as the 2016 Maxima. Nissan discloses all the details that everyone wants to know, including the specs and pricing.
Compared with last year's model, the updated compact sedan gets a price hike and considerable improvements across the board on all trim levels. While the base is only up $250, the highest trim level can go up to a whopping $1,450.
"Sentra has experienced tremendous growth in sales and market share in recent years, making it one of Nissan's fastest growing nameplates. To help keep momentum going, we've given Sentra a new look and feel for 2016, starting with a revised exterior and the addition of an expanded suite of available safety and driving aid technologies," Dan Mohnke, VP of sales and marketing operations of Nissan in North America, says.
Sentra S ($17,615 Or $18,465 With Xtronic CVT)
The Sentra S comes paired with a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and standard features such as power windows and locks, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), audio controls on the steering wheel, a four-speaker audio system, a chrome trim, automatic headlights and a 60/40 split folding rear seat. What's more, it also has a USB port and Bluetooth support, but no audio streaming, though.
Sentra FE+ S ($18,865 / $250 More Than Last Year's Model)
The Sentra FE+ S is the carmaker's high-efficiency model for this lineup, making CVT a standard feature. Other add-ons include a lip spoiler, some low-rolling resistance tires and aero bits under the body.
Sentra SV ($19,385 / $200 More Than Last Year's Model)
The Sentra SV also features CVT standard. As for the added features, it has a 5-inch infotainment screen, six-speaker audio system, a steering wheel wrapped with leather, a proximity key and sliding front and rear center armrests. From this grade onward, the 2016 Sentra has Siri Eyes Free voice recognition as a standard feature.
Sentra SR ($21,245 / $450 More Than Last Year's Model)
The Sentra SR package adds rear disc brakes, a body kit, fog lights, 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated front seats, a push-button ignition, rear cup holders, seat back storage pockets and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB).
Sentra SL ($23,005 / $1,450 More Than Last Year's Model)
Now, the Sentra SL includes a dual-zone automatic climate control, a HomeLink Universal Transceiver and leather seats as part of the vehicle's standard features. To top them off, it has heated door mirrors with signal indicators and Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Engine
All of the models have 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engines under their hoods.
Color
The 2016 Sentra has a new Deep Blue Pearl color, which is part of the 10 available colors.
It seems that Nissan took things up a notch with the 2016 Sentra, offering a practical vehicle at a respectable price.
