'Into the Badlands' Is Very Successful For AMC: Season 2 Inbound?

One of the best new series of 2015 is AMC's "Into The Badlands." Season 1 of the series has ended, and AMC is looking into bringing Season 2 onboard in 2016.

However, the most important aspect for a Season 2 to take shape has a lot to do with the views, so how did the first Season fare?

According to the latest report, the first Season of "Into the Badlands" averaged around 5.3 million viewers each episode. That's far less than "The Walking Dead" and other AMC shows such as "Better Call Saul." However, it is still good enough for a new show.

The show saw average viewers of 3.2 million adults 19 to 49 and 3.3 million adults 25 to 54. As for the season finale, it had 3.6 million viewers. It was less than the premiere, but despite the show's somewhat weak story and subplot, the action alone seems to be the defining mark that keeps audiences returning for more each week.

"Into the Badlands" ranks at No. 3 for the highest rated freshmen series of any network on cable. That's good news for the show as it sets its eyes on a second season for 2016.

While the show comes in at third, AMC can rejoice knowing that it owns the No. 2 spot with "Fear The Walking Dead" and No. 1 with the hit series "Better Call Saul," AMC's prequel to "Breaking Bad."

What's interesting here is the fact that all three shows began in 2015, making the year a special one for AMC. The network can rest easy knowing that it has a host of original shows with a strong following, and this audience is ready to tune in next time around.

"'Into the Badlands' was built to be entertaining, action-packed television, and this team delivered. We're very appreciative of the many millions of fans who have joined us in the Badlands each week," said Charlie Collier, AMC's president.

With the end of the season finale, many fans are wondering what will happen to the characters. Sunny is now a man being traded to a person fans know nothing about, and M.K. was kidnapped by some seriously skilled monks who are just like M.K., but with far more control.

The Widow may or may not survive, and Quinn is probably a dead man.
