A new year is on the horizon, and what better way to celebrate than with free games? Sony has revealed the free games that will be coming to all PlayStation Plus subscribers in January, and it includes a couple of classic titles remastered for the PS4.
Headlining the month's free games is Grim Fandango: Remastered, a title Sony was directly involved in bringing back to life. The classic adventure game from what was then Lucasarts has been restored for the PS4 by Tim Schafer and Double Fine, featuring new controls and improved visuals. The quirky, funny and powerful game has players taking on the role of Manny Calavera, an agent of the Department of Death whose task is to help guide souls to their eternal resting place.
If adventure games aren't your thing, you can't go wrong with the vehicle action in Hardware: Rivals. The game is making its debut on PlayStation Plus and is directly inspired by the PS2 title Hardware: Online Arena. Just like the original, players will go online to battle in some truly over-the-top vehicular mayhem.
On the PS3 side of PS Plus, gamers are getting two very different games from EA. The first is the excellent RPG Dragon Age: Origins. It's been out for a while now, but if you have yet to play the first entry in the Dragon Age series, you'll want to do yourself a favor and check it out. The other title available is Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
PlayStation Vita gamers can snag Legends of War Patton and Nihilumbra free of charge. All these games will become free for PlayStation Plus members on Jan. 5. You can read more about each game over on the official PlayStation blog.
