In an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly, iZombie star and Australian actress Rose McIver announced a special cameo in season 2. Kristen Bell will drop in for the sophomore season's eleventh episode of Rob Thomas' sci-fi police procedural, which focuses on recently turned zombie Liv Moore (played by McIver) and her attempts to keep the city of Seattle safe from both the living and the undead.
For the uninitiated, the iZombie creator is also responsible for the cult hit and noirish television classic Veronica Mars, which starred Bell as the titular, sardonic teenage private investigator. This, of course, makes Bell's appearance on iZombie a Thomasverse reunion of epic proportions.
While the show (and Thomas) have been leaving Easter eggs for Marshmallows (i.e., Veronica Mars fans) that are meant to bind both shows to the same fictional universe, a direct hint made by McIver was equally as important. The iZombie star pointedly noted that Bell will be doing voicework, so whether or not we'll actually see Bell's face in the ep is still up in the air.
This isn't the first time Bell has done voiceover work, having voiced the character Anna in Disney/Pixar's animated 2013 nouveau masterpiece Frozen, and as the mysterious narrator/blogger/rumor hound Gossip Girl in The CW show of the same name about socialites on Manhattan's Upper East Side from 2007 to 2012.
iZombie will return to at 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 12, on The CW. Check out McIver's announcement, courtesy of EW, in the video below.
