The Future Of E-Shopping Is Inside A Mall: eBay To Install Selling Outposts For Unwanted Gifts

Ecommerce company, eBay, wants to extend its presence and help out prospective post-holiday sellers discard their unwanted presents by installing temporary physical outposts in several Westfield malls on Dec. 26 and 27.

What's more, the company is even waiving its 20 percent to 40 percent valet fees for those two days to sellers who visit the outpost. Its valet service includes giving price estimates, taking photos, listing and shipping the item. Basically, all a seller has to do is visit eBay's outpost with the item they are looking to sell and the eBay Valet service will do all the necessary work for them, if they choose.

The pop-up stations can be found in the following Westfield Malls: Westfield San Francisco Centre, Westfield Garden State Plaza, Paramus, NJ and Westfield Hawthorn Center, Vernon Hills, IL.

It's all part of eBay's effort to cash in on the Boxing Weekend sales spike it saw after Christmas in 2014 combined with its goal to have an edge over its competitor eCommerce sites like Amazon.

"We've made it easy to sell in-person, online, on the eBay app or with the eBay Valet service over Boxing Weekend. We've made it easy to sell in-person, online, on the eBay app or with the eBay Valet service over Boxing Weekend," eBay's Head of Consumer Selling, Vincent Payen, said.

Sellers who live in Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco and you don't want to leave the comfort of your home, you can also choose to list the items yourself and take advantage of eBay's new partnership with Shyp.

"The on-demand shipping service will pick-up items you've sold, professionally pack them and mail them for you to the buyer," Payen said. The good news is that Shyp will do all those things for you for free until Jan. 31, 2016.

Check out how this new partnership will make things even easier for sellers in the short video below.
