Someone Combined The 'X-Men: Apocalypse' Trailer With The 1992 Animated Series

A little over a week ago, 20th Century Fox blew everyone's minds with the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse. There have been plenty of talks surrounding the future of the franchise after Apocalypse hits theaters — somehow, even with just a tiny sneak preview, the movie already looks like a fitting send-off for one of the best comic book movie franchises ever.

The trailer was surprisingly dark, almost depressingly so — given the fact that the word "apocalypse" is in the title, it's only fitting that it really does feel like the world of the X-Men could come to an end. Not only that, but the trailer seemingly united the entire character in Fox's X-Men universe: save for one notably absent cameo, it feels like Bryan Singer has finally nailed the feeling of a world full of mutants ... even if it's about to be burned to ashes.

So, what's the best way to follow up all that darkness, death and destruction? Bright colors, wonky animation and absolutely ridiculous costumes, that's what! One YouTuber by the name of Phillysteak has combined the ominous debut trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse with the 1992 X-Men animated series — and it's amazing.

At first, fans were worried about Apocalypse's look in the upcoming movie. The first few pictures had him looking like an old Power Rangers villain, but the film's debut trailer put many of those fears to rest — Apocalypse's cinematic debut will definitely do the villain justice ... that being said, nothing could ever really compete with those giant blue lips from the TV series.

Then again, it's obvious that X-Men: Apocalypse is taking more inspiration from the comics than ever before — who's to say that Apocalypse won't look more like the armored behemoth from the comics by the end of the film?

X-Men: Apocalypse is due out on May 27, 2016.
