Trader Joe's Recalls Triple Ginger Brew Following Reports Of Exploding Unopened Bottles

Trader Joe's has issued a voluntary recall of its Triple Ginger Brew product following inquiries from customers who reported unopened bottles bursting or shattering.

The Monrovia-based company released a statement last Tuesday, Dec. 15, stating that the potentially affected bottles were distributed to over 450 Trader Joe's stores nationwide and sold from Nov. 9 to Dec. 14, stamped with the code SKU 51857.

"Although the ginger brew does not pose a health risk if consumed, all product has been removed from store shelves and destroyed. No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date," says Trader Joe's in a press release.

Despite this, the company urges customers who have purchased the product to "handle it with care and dispose of it immediately in an outside container," as customers may be hurt if the glass bottles suddenly explode while they're being handled. The Triple Ginger Brew is sold in "an old-fashioned, emerald green, 750-milliliter glass bottle," according to the company website.

This latest issue follows a series of recalls that started earlier this year. Last August, the company recalled its brand name Dark Chocolate covered Honey Grahams with Sea Salt after it came to light that the product may have contained milk, which was not listed in the ingredient label.

The August recall is followed by another one in November when the company also recalled its Trader Giotto's Butternut Squash Triangoli after customers allergic to tree nuts reported having allergic reactions after consuming the product. The product was recalled because it was thought to have undeclared tree nuts.

The Triple Ginger Brew is labeled in the Trader Joe's website as a non-alcoholic drink with "a substantial amount of fresh ginger that's added during the brewing process." This ginger ale drink is very popular, and comes in flavors such as Gingerbread and Triple Ginger Snaps.

Trader Joe's will issue a refund to customers who purchased the affected product. Customers are encouraged to call the company's Customer Relations hotline at (626) 599-3817 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday to Friday, or use the "Contact Us" page in the company website in case they have any question.
