HTC Teases Upcoming Smartphone With Powerful Camera: Is It The One X9?

HTC yet again is preparing to launch a new smartphone that it hopes will wow the world and return the company to its glory days. The company lately teased a new smartphone, and we have reasons to believe this device could be the One X9.

The Taiwanese OEM confirmed on Tuesday that it plans to release a new smartphone with a 13-megapixel camera that is capable of delivering RAW images. Furthermore, optical image stabilization, or OIS for short, will be one of the major features added to the handset.

In the teaser via its Weibo page, HTC hinted that the device could be a follow-up to the HTC One A9, which ultimately means it could very well be the rumored HTC One X9. This unknown device, according to the specifications, is a powerful phablet that may be designed for the mid-ranged segment of the mobile market.

The rumored handset is said to have a 5.5-inch full HD display, along with a 2.2 GHz octa-core processor. Furthermore, the device may end up having 2 GB worth of RAM, 16 GB internal storage, and a microSD card. The front-facing camera is a decent enough 5-megapixel shooter, while the rear camera packs 13 megapixels, a number that aligns well with the HTC-teased smartphone.

HTC is a company that is struggling to regain lost market share due to years of not being able to compete effectively with Samsung and Apple in the smartphone space. HTC has launched several smartphones that are considered some of the best, but the company does not have the luxury of a familiar brand name.

The company's latest flagship, the HTC One M9, has turned out to be a huge disappointment. HTC even went ahead and released a version for the Windows Phone platform, but that was never going to do well, especially with Windows Phone users favoring the Nokia-built devices.

HTC's newest handset is the One A9, a smartphone with a striking resemblance to the Apple iPhone. It seems that for HTC to succeed again, it must take the best bits from its competitors, and combine them into a single product.
