Google has released "A Year in Search 2015," which highlights what Americans Googled in 2015.
Millions of people search on Google regarding various current affairs, events, people, and more. Searching for information has become very common after the emergence of Google and easy access to the Internet.
Billions of searches are done online, but everyone does not search for the same information. In 2015, there were a few events that grabbed the attention of millions of people in the U.S. and in the world.
Paris was searched for more than 897 million times in 2015. The reason being was the Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks that took place in January 2015, followed by another coordinated terrorist attack in the city, in November 2015.
Some of the top questions asked by Americans on Google were: What happened in Paris? Who attacked Paris? What band was playing in Paris? What is 'Pray for Paris'? and more.
English songwriter and singer Adele was searched on Google for more than 439 million times. Adele's new music album "25" debuted in November this year and it broke many records. The album helped Adele to move on top of Google search faster in comparison to any other musician in 2015.
Other musicians who were searched most in 2015 after Adele were Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.
Oscars, which is Hollywood's biggest event of the year, brought millions of searches to Google. Americans searched for Oscars on Google by more than 406 million times. This year, the Best Picture award went to Birdman. Eddie Redmayne received the Best Actor award and the Best Actress went to Julianne Moore.
Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, was also amongst the top-most searched for information by Americans on Google in 2015. Jenner became a transgender icon in 2015, and was searched on Google for more than 366 million times by Americans.
The top five cities searching for Caitlyn Jenner were Yonkers in New York, Boylston in Massachusetts, Bridgewater in New Jersey, Beverly Hills in California, and Bay Lake in Florida.
