Twitch Makes It Easier For Users To Send Whispers

Twitch is simplifying things for users as it has made the sending of communications via its private messaging system i.e. Whispers seamless.

On Tuesday, Dec. 15, the updates for Whispers were released by the company, bringing the ability for both web and mobile users to direct message their friends with ease. Twitch took into account feedback from users as well as hiccups encountered during the beta testing to imbibe changes into the final release.

Previously, a Whisper could only be sent by typing "/w" before a username in a global chat room. However, post the update, Twitch users will merely need to locate the icon to send Whisper. The Whisper icon has been placed in the bottom right of the player. This will open the window for Whisper list.

Once the list is open, one simply locates the Twitch user they wish to send a message to. Clicking on the username will initiate the conversation—it's really that easy now!

"Once upon a time, the only way you could start whispering was by typing /w in global chat. Those days are over. Now there is a dedicated Whisper button on the bottom right of the player. Clicking that icon allows you to quickly initiate a conversation with anyone on Twitch," revealed Twitch's Eric Barnett

Improved Whispers is not the only improvement the update from Twitch brings for users. Twitch has also included a new DND or Do Not Disturb mode, which can be accessed in the Whisper Settings menu.

So what happens when one enables the DND mode you ask? As the name suggests, incoming Whispers will be stopped from popping-up on the screen in a new window. But don't worry; you will not miss out on these whispers as they will be accessible from the Whispers List window.

Moreover, users also benefit from two new settings—blocking Whispers from random people you don't know and the "mark all messages read" which lets one, sort their inbox.
