Google To Bring Gold Nexus 6P To US Via Best Buy

Google is preparing to launch the Special Edition Google Nexus 6P to customers in the United States who have been wanting to have the gold option of the handset.

Word about the Nexus 6P's gold version first came around prior to the handset's launch. According to some early leaks of the device, the Nexus 6P will be available in color options such as Aluminum, Frost, Graphite and Gold.

In the Nexus September event however, the company launched the handset in only three colors which became available in most regions. As for the gold version, Google made it available exclusively in Japan.

There is no question that out of all the available colors that had ever been designed for a handset, gold has always been a popular choice. Most consumers would associate this color with premium quality and build.

The Nexus 6P is the first Nexus handset that comes with a full-metal body, specifically described by Google as a type of "aeronautical-grade aluminum." Compared to its older siblings, the 6P has everything it needs to make it a strong competitor against known premium handsets available in the market. These include the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Edge+, Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

What makes it even more likeable is its relatively low cost without its performance getting compromised.

Google may officially unveil the availability of the new gold option for the handset at the upcoming CES 2016. The announcement, which will be part of Huawei's own set of announcements in the event, may also occur in the second Nexus press event in 2016.

Whatever Google plans to announce in 2016, one of the things that people seem to care more about is the company's launching of a gold 6P variant. Google is reportedly bringing the 6P to Best Buy in the near future. Customers who wish to have this Special Edition model will soon be able to purchase one in Best Buy's online and physical stores.

The idea of making the 6P available in Best Buy may not come as a surprise considering that the company is known for selling unique color options and special models of consumer products.

While Google is yet to make an official announcement on the potential availability of the handset in Best Buy, it has hinted on revealing more about its plan for the United States in the upcoming CES event in January.

"The International CES is planned for January, as you know, so you should expect to hear more about our United States plan at that time," said George Zhao, president of Huawei's Honor line of products.
