Mark Hamill, Jerry Seinfeld And Neil Patrick Harris Might Guest Star On 'Mystery Science Theater 3000'

Joel Hodgson, the creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K), has teased that a bevy of talented (and hilarious) guest stars could put in an appearance on the first season of the rebooted sci-fi comedy cult favorite — including Neil Patrick Harris, Jerry Seinfeld and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill — if the MST3K creative team can raise its maximum funding goal before 10 p.m. EST tonight.

Other talents Hodgson promised could show up on the roster include Community's Joel McHale, Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader and physical comedy genius Jack Black.

While Hodgson is excited about the potential line-up, he recognizes a solid discrepancy: a lack of female comedians for cameos. So, in addition to a call for donations, the showrunner has posted a new casting call to get them to hop on board.

"If any female celebrities are reading this, and happen to be fans of MST3K, please let me know!" Hodgson wrote in an update on the show's Kickstarter campaign page. "And if your names happen to be Tina Fey, Lily Tomlin or Amy (Poehler and Schumer) — a few of my current comedy heroes — call me! We're bringing back MST3K and would love for you to do a cameo!"

The show's main cast features fanboy/fangirl favorite Felicia Day, comedians Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn and actor/TV personality Patton Oswalt.

As of now, the MST3K campaign has raised 87 percent of its $5.5 million goal. To complete the rest, it's hosting a countdown telethon starting at 5 p.m., as well as the conclusion of the week-long livestreamed "Double Feature" marathon, which includes two of Hodgson's favorite MST3K episodes back-to-back.

In addition to the cameos, MST3K will get a full 12-episode order if the team completes its fundraising goal.
