Xiaomi 'Kenzo' Surfaces In Benchmark Database, Could Be Redmi 3

Xiaomi has yet to announce the upcoming Redmi 3, but it's rumored to be an impressive device. In the latest benchmark test leaked online, the new handset was spotted carrying the codename "Kenzo" and packing a Snapdragon 617 SoC.

If the leaked spec detail proves to be true, it may just be a huge selling factor for Xiaomi's next Redmi model.

"We've recently seen the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 made official, so now it's time to start thinking of devices that might launch in early 2016," reads a post on the XiaomiDevice blog.

The new benchmark listing for a Xiaomi Kenzo suggests that the device is none other than the Redmi 3.

According to the benchmark test results, the Xiaomi "Kenzo" handset earned 1,420 points in a single-core test and 3,420 in multi-core. It also revealed a number of purported specs that customers should expect from the device.

The new Xiaomi Kenzo will be running on Android 5.1.1 and will feature an ARM Qualcomm at 1.40 GHz as its processor.

It should be noted that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 was launched carrying an MTK Helio X10 chipset and a RAM size of 2 GB. With this in mind, it is highly likely that the Xiaomi Kenzo that was identified in the test is no other than the Redmi 3.

"The RAM amount and SoC used fit a mid-range offering, and the Redmi Note line has recently been updated," added Xiaomi.

Back in July, another handset from Xiaomi also appeared at a benchmark listing. Codenamed "Libra," the handset was seen as featuring a hexa-core processor.

Xiaomi had just unveiled the new Redmi Note 3 in China last November. The device comes in two versions. The first one will have a 2 GB RAM and storage of 16 GB. The second version will feature a bigger RAM of 3 GB and a bigger storage of 32 GB. Other details such as pricing and exact launch date are yet to be announced.

In the meantime, Xiaomi is also expected to release their next Mi 5 flagship in the next couple of days. Based on the latest report, the announcement may just occur on Jan. 21. Apart from the Mi 5, Xiaomi is said to be working on a notebook which was also leaked repeatedly for the past couple of days. Rumor has it that the company is preparing launch a 12.5-inch model at least by April in 2016.
