The Last of Us: First movie poster shown, Game of Thrones Arya Stark to play Ellie?

We've long heard rumors of The Last of Movie being a real thing, it appears now as if those rumors are true. Today, Sony tweeted what appears to be the official poster for the movie, and fans are going coo-coo for cocoa puffs already.

The poster only revealed Ellie with backpack on her back and a knife in her hand. It didn't say much, nor did it give us an idea who will end up playing the character. What the poster did tell us, however, is that The Last of Us movie is a real thing, and it could be ready for prime time by 2016 if production begins next year.

When it comes down to who will be playing who in The Last of Us film, we have no concrete idea apart from some rumors we've come across. From what we understand, it appears Sam Raimi will be directing the movie, and Neil Druckmann is expected to pen the script.

Who'll play Ellie and Joel? Well, rumors claim that Maisie Williams will take on the iconic role. For those unaware, Maisie Williams is the 17-year old actress who plays Arya Stark in the Game of Thrones Series. Her capability as an actor is well-documented, as she managed to perform very well in the role of the young Stark girl who's looking for blood.

On the matter of Joel, Bruce Campbell is pegged as the man who'll take the role as his own.

Can The Last of Us be a good movie?

For those who have played the video game, they should be able to tell how gripping the story was. However, the most important aspect of The Last of Us video game, is the characters and how well they complement each other. The voice over actors did a splendid job, which means the potential live action actors will have big shoes to fill.

If Sony and the director can get the right actors for the movie, along with keeping to the tone of the video game, we have no doubt The Last of Us will turn out to be a hit film, and the first truly successful movie that originates from a video game.
