A new Oppo A53 smartphone just made its official debut, arriving as a sleek handset with a premium metal build, but otherwise mid-range specifications.
Not too long ago, in early November, we spotted the Oppo A53 getting certification from TENAA, which is the equivalent of the FCC in China. The listing revealed the core specifications of the device and suggested that a formal release was just around the corner.
Fast forward to the present date and the Oppo A53 just made its official debut, albeit only in China for now. The specs Oppo listed on the A53 product page are just what we expected, portraying a solid mid-ranger that should deliver a decent performance, but nothing groundbreaking.
The Oppo A53 features a 5.5-inch display with an HD resolution (720p), which is definitely not very impressive by today's standards. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor with a 1.5GHz octa-core Cortex A-53 CPU is at the heart of the handset, paired with 2 GB of RAM for a speedy experience. Other specs include 16 GB of internal storage, expandable via microSD, a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, a 5-megapixel front camera, dual-SIM support, and 3G LTE.
While the specifications are just regular for the mid-range segment of the smartphone market, the Oppo A53 does stand out from the crowd due to its premium-looking design and powerful battery. The smartphone comes with a full-metal build that makes it look sleek and stylish, while a large 3,075 mAh battery should keep things up and running for a good while on a single charge. A 2.5D curved glass on the front also aims to make the device more attractive.
On the software front, the Oppo A53 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the OEM's own ColorOS 2.1 on top.
Oppo has yet to offer any specific details on price and availability dates for its latest mid-ranger, but those specs should translate to an affordable price tag. As previously mentioned, the handset made its debut in China for now, and it remains unclear at this point just when or if it will arrive in other markets as well.
