Just Cause 3 was recently launched, but visual issues almost immediately plagued the experience for gamers who tried to enjoy the game on PC.
Frame rate issues which are apparently tied to the video card drivers kept players from enjoying the Square Enix title.
Social media and message boards point their fingers at an unjustified low frame rate. One Reddit user said that the game is "unplayable." It should be noted that the user loaded the game on a high-end PC configuration, sporting an Intel i7 5820K CPU and Nvidia GTX 980Ti GPU. With an alleged 10 fps, any game becomes unattractive and virtually impossible to play.
It looks like AMD users drew the short end of the stick, as hard crashes and a visual bug that switches graphics into triangles were commonly spotted by AMD GPU buyers.
Nvidia video cards manifested stuttering and crashing, but in fewer numbers. Nvidia made an attempt to resolve the issues and released a driver for Just Cause 3 and Rainbow Six Siege, but feedback on Steam was inconclusive, as some members of the community still complained that the driver did not fix the problems.
For AMD users, a Square Enix team member offered a solution on Steam.
"There are some known issues that occur with the most recent official release AMD/ATi graphics card drivers. We're working with AMD to fix the issue via an upcoming official driver update," Square Enix representative, Jay Walker said.
Walker further stated that first, all PC gamers who notice visual glitches should make sure that their systems run on the latest beta driver, which is version 15.11.1, released last Nov. 30, 2015.
You may download the beta drivers, but even if the fix works, this is a bleak start for AMD's freshly launched Crimson platform.
Additional workarounds might do the trick, such as disabling the Steam overlay. To do that, go to your Steam settings, find the In-Game tab, and disable V-Sync.
Some users noted that this freed them from the irritating stutter.
It would be great to see a definitive fix from the developer and/or the video card manufacturer, because Just Cause 3 seems to be one of those must have gameplay experiences, as reviews point out.
"When Just Cause 3 is consistent, it's a stunning display of cause and effect, as watchtowers topple into fuel tanks, which blow up nearby helicopters, which sail into oncoming vehicles," Rob Crossley from GameSpot underlines.
