In anticipation of Black Friday's national blowout sales on Nov. 27, IBM's Watson Trend, an app that sends users updates on anything related to consumer behavior in real time, predicts that Apple Watch, Samsung, Sony and LG TVs, and Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 will be among the top-selling products this year.
Earlier Friday, Watson Trend posted the top 100 electronic and other items wanted by consumers, which include among them the ever-popular headphones Beats by Dre, Jordan shoes, Nintendo's Super Smash Bros for Wii, and the educational build-it-yourself MeccaNoid Personal Robots for kids.
The app also listed trending products that consumers are talking about on social media, listing Toshiba Satellite Laptops, Disney Princess LEGO sets, NordicTrack treadmills, Klipsch speakers, and Asus ZenBook laptops as the hottest items for the marathon shopper set.
According to Watson Trend, shopping on Black Friday itself is experiencing a major uptick compared with stats from last year, with a 14.5 percent in-store sales growth and a 26 percent online shopping sales increase, with mobile shopping dominating over desktop or laptop purchasing by 60 percent. Overall, buyers are spending around $123.45 per order on average.
