FOX seems hopelessly devoted to making their best possible production of "Grease: Live" and the just-released photos of the cast in their full "Grease" attire are giving us chills that are multiplying.
The network released several photos of the production's Danny Zuko, played by Aaron Tveit, in his standard leather jacket-wearing, bad boy look holding the Pink Ladies leader, Rizzo, played by Vanessa Hudgens. The photos also featured the woman who made him swoon all those summer nights, Julianne Hough's Sandy, in her sexy bad girl image complete with the red high heels.
Another photo featured Hough and Tveit posing as Sandy and Danny in their iconic poster image. Although Tveit is smiling a bit more than John Travolta did, we can forgive him if he pulls all the stops to live up to Travolta's Danny Zuko character.
The Pink Ladies are composed of Carly Rae Jepsen as "Beauty School Dropout" dreamer, Frenchy, along with Keke Palmer as Marty Maraschino and Kether Donohue as Jan. The rest of the T-Birds, on the other hand, will be played by Carlos PenaVega as tough guy-slash-Danny's best friend, Kenickie and David Del Rio as Putzie.
"Grease: Live" is a one-night-only production which will be televised on FOX on Jan. 31. Tony Award-nominated director Thomas Kail is in charge of stage direction and the live television direction will be overseen by Alex Rudzinski. Jessie J is set to open the stage with a special rendition of "Grease (is the Word)" and we'll have to wait until the new adaptation is televised to know if this new cast can really go together "like rama lamma lamma ka dinga da dinga dong" just as well as the 1978 cast.
