A month after the LG-made Nexus 5X was made available to consumers on the Google Store in the U.S., the smartphone has finally made an official appearance on e-retailer Amazon.
The unlocked Nexus 5X smartphone is now available for purchase from Amazon, ending Google Store's dominance as the only source for buying the handset. Both the 16GB and the 32GB variants of the smartphone are up for grabs for $379.99 and $429.99, respectively.
This is the same listed price as the Google Store; however, purchasing the Nexus 5X from Amazon means that one will not be able to avail of the Nexus Protect scheme which Google throws in for $69. Therefore, in the event something goes amiss with the handset, those who purchase the Nexus 5X from another outlet will only have LG's warranty to fall back on.
Amazon is offering the Carbon and Quartz color options of the 16GB variant. The 32GB model is available in all three colors: Ice, Quartz and Carbon. It is also throwing in free shipping.
A plus of purchasing the Nexus 5X from Amazon is that one will not be charged extra taxes and shipping which Google Store does. Therefore, the Nexus 5X will effectively be cheaper when compared to the overall price from the Google Store.
B&H has also begun offering the unlocked Nexus 5X in both 16GB and 32GB options for $379 and $429, respectively. The retailer is also throwing in a Xuma 2600mAh portable power pack in black worth $9.95 for free with the Nexus 5X's purchase.
The retailer has all three color options of the smartphone available for both the 16GB and 32GB models unlike Amazon. B&H is not offering free shipping though, but unlike the Google Store it will not be charging taxes.
The Nexus 5X boasts a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Under the hood, it houses a powerful hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, which is clocked at 1.8GHz. The device has 2GB of RAM and is available in16GB/32GB on-board memory options. The handset also has a 12.3MP primary camera and a 5MP selfie one.
The Nexus 5X comes pre-loaded with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
