Part of Apple Pay's campaign to reach a broader audience includes more reputable stores accepting the service.
Well, as part of its announcement for global expansion, including its launch in Canada, Apple announced that Cinnabon will add Apple Pay to all of its locations throughout the United States with Dominos pizza stores accepting it by the end of this year, as reported by the Associated Press.
This comes in addition to the tech giant mentioning that Starbucks is also conducting a pilot of the service in what's left of this year with a broader Apple Pay rollout set for 2016 and Kentucky Fried Chicken adding it next spring.
Apple Pay being added to Dominos and soon-to-be Starbucks is a huge coup for the company, which continues to expand its mobile ordering service, which essentially allows users to turn their smartphones into their very own digital wallets.
The announcement continues Apple Pay's gradual expansion. According to the AP, when Apple Pay launched in the U.S. back in October 2014, the country had 200,000 tap-capable machines. Apple expects that number to reach upwards of 1.5 million by the end of this year with the growth cited as nearly 100,000 small to medium sized merchants adding the service each month.
Part of its expansion includes the service being offered to more than 100 additional card issuers (of smaller banks and credit unions), after already accepting American Express, MasterCard, Visa and Discover from major banks.
The expansion of Apple Pay and it being accommodated by more and more companies — such as Dominos with Starbucks impending — also allows Apple to stay ahead of its aggressive competitors in Samsung Pay, Google's Android Pay and the recently-announced LG Pay.
