'Marvel's Agent Carter' Embraces La La Land In Season 2 Trailer

Marvel's Agent Carter is back, and this time, she's gone Hollywood. Gone are the cold streets of New York City: now, it's all sunshine, palm trees and movie stars.

In a new trailer for the second season of Agent Carter, Peggy (Hayley Atwell) and Jarvis (James D'Arcy) head to Los Angeles to take on new adventures. It seems that California has a lot in store for the pair, because the trailer features nonstop action, glamour and even a little romance.

Agent Carter premiered earlier this year and received praise for being the first female-led Marvel property in the Marvel cinematic universe. The character originally became popular after appearing in the first Captain America movie, which eventually led to ABC creating a series based on her.

"I think it's the support of the fans saying that they want that and they want more of it," Atwell said at this year's St. Louis Wizard World Comic Con. "And it's a dialogue between the audience and the industry saying this is what we want and this is what we're ready for. I felt like the audience was speaking out. And I do hope that it will start a quiet revolution because the audience is there and they want it. It's time."

ABC quickly agreed to a second season for Agent Carter, but decided to change the setting of the series from New York, as seen in season 1, to the more glamorous Los Angeles. However, that doesn't mean that the series plans on resting on its laurels: The network teases that L.A. could bring Agent Carter's most dangerous threat yet.

Also returning in the second season is Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood and Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa.

It seems that Peggy has come a long way since falling in love with Captain America. Having dealt with that loss in the first season, the second season sees Peggy finally moving on.

"It's going to be set in L.A. and it's set a year later," said Atwell. "Peggy's in quite a different place. She's not grieving as much. It's not as raw for her to have lost Steve. I think we'll see much more light, warmth and humor. But I think there will also be something very like L.A. Confidential, the film noir, the very glamorous L.A. life with that sort of dark underbelly of L.A. in the '40s."

Agent Carter premieres on ABC on Jan. 5 with a two-hour season premiere.
