First Major 'Fallout 4' Bug Discovered By Players

Upon its release, Fallout 4 seemed relatively problem-free. However, players recently reported a bug that crashes the game and keeps players from continuing.

The bug appears when players take on a settlement mission that sends them to Monsignor Plaza. It happens when players try to travel there as part of the mission, crashing the game every single time they attempt to continue.

According to the Fallout 4 forums, the first reports of the bug reported occurred with the PC version of the game. However, other players added comments that this bug affects consoles, too.

"Been playing for around 10 hours now with no problems and now doing a Settlement quest where I have to go to Monsignor but every time I go there it crashes straight to the desktop without any error message, there isn't one in the Event Viewer either," wrote the original poster who first reported the problem. "I've searched for a while before posting but only found some other people who have had this crash on Reddit (They were doing the BoS questline), I've tried the Beta patch but it's the same."

Other players commented that they ran into the same problem and report that it seems to occur on all platforms. It seems that anyone entering the area from any direction gets the crash and that even going back to previous saves doesn't solve the issue. No one has yet figured out a fix.

Players also warned others of not restarting the game because the issue returns even after that.

Fallout 4 players on Reddit also reported crashing problems with this specific mission caused by approaching that area.

As of now, Bethesda does not seem aware of the problem, so there's no fix. It's likely they'll learn of the problem soon and release a patch to take care of the glitch. Until then, the most likely way to continue playing the game is to avoid that mission and area until the official patch gets released.

This is the first major game-breaking bug found by players of Fallout 4. Other minor glitches included issues with getting trapped in elevators, problems with game loading and armor bugs. However, Bethesda resolved most of these issues with a day one patch.

Fallout 4 is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
