Disney Outs Infinity 3.0 Edition For Apple TV With SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller

Players can now enjoy playing game titles from Disney Infinity right from their Apple TV.

Disney has just launched the new Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition that's been designed to work with the new Apple TV. The move allows players to enjoy their first Disney-style game experience in an Apple set-top box.

First announced in September, the new set comes with a black Bluetooth Disney Infinity Base and a SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller. Other features include a web code card for mobile and PC devices, the Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set piece and the Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figures. The offered figures will allow players to unlock original storylines in virtual worlds.

"Apple TV represents an incredible opportunity for us to bring Disney Infinity to a new audience of players who may not have a game console in their household," said John Blackburn, Disney Infinity's general manager and senior vice president.

Sean Patton, senior producer for Disney Infinity mobile, said that the company made sure the controller they are offering is fully compatible with Apple TV which is said to have been designed to support third-party controllers. By using the Nimbus Wireless Controller, players would still be able to play the game as it was originally intended to be played.

"We've engineered the Nimbus Wireless Controller especially for Apple TV gameplay experiences," said Craig Olson, SteelSeries Mobile President.

Players who have the early figures and power discs from Disney Infinity versions 1.0 and 2.0 would be glad to know they can also use them with the latest 3.0 version on the Apple TV. Originally, Disney Infinity was made compatible with the console-focused platforms such as Nintendo, Xbox and PlayStation. The company has so far expanded the coverage to include the PC, iOS and Android mobile devices in recent months.

The Star Wars game, which is one of the must-have titles of the year, has been included to allow parents and children to enjoy together both its classic and new stories and well-known characters.

Players can also download the Disney Infinity 3.0 app which is now available in the App Store. This will allow them to play the Battle of Yavin from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. They can also purchase additional play sets, power discs and figures, which Disney sells separately in the store.

The new Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack for Apple TV is retailed at $99.95 and is now available for purchase at the Apple Store.
