Batman is gone, and it's up to Robin, Nightwing, Batwoman and more of Bruce's extended crime-fighting family to protect Gotham City in his absence. That's the set-up for the all-new original DC animated movie Batman: Bad Blood, and it looks to be action-packed if this trailer is any indication.
So where exactly has Batman gone? The trailer doesn't provide many clues, but it does give us a few glimpses at what appear to be some new villains. One looks like an electricity wielding equalist from The Legend of Korra, while another takes more than a few cues from Batman's longtime nemesis Bane.
To unravel the mystery of Bruce's disappearance, it's going to take the whole bat-gang. Dick Grayson looks to be donning the cape and cowl for a spell, assisted by Batman's son and the current Robin, Damian. Along the way Batwoman and Batwing both arrive to lend a hand in protecting Gotham, though from what the trailer doesn't exactly make clear.
All we know is that at one point Grayson, Robin and Batwoman fight an army of ninja nuns. That's reason enough to check this movie out, but we wouldn't mind knowing exactly why these nuns have equipped themselves with katanas and M-16s. If Batman and his friends weren't going to hell before, beating up these far-from-defenseless sisters of God certainly isn't helping their case.
You'll be able to pick up a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack of Batman: Bad Blood on Feb. 2, 2016. If you don't mind having the physical disc, the movie will release in digital HD a few weeks earlier on Jan. 19.
