Pinterest Launches Its Dedicated Shopping Section And The Buyable Pin Feature For Android Users

It's easy to spend hours browsing through Pinterest boards for bookmarking recipes, hair styles and some must-have fashion pieces, but now, users will soon be able to shop directly on Pinterest using its new dedicated shopping section.

Pinterest announced on Tuesday the upcoming launch of its brand new Shop, which includes everything from new collections to trending essentials that are selected by the company. Categories include things such as jewelry, bedding and sweaters. The new shopping section includes brands users know and trust, such as Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom, along with smaller shops you might not find anywhere else, such as The Citizenry.

Users can easily find this dedicated section by tapping on the explore icon, followed by a tap on "Shop."

Pinterest previously rolled out its "buyable Pins" feature for iOS back in June, which allowed users to purchase goods they liked. However, not every single item was compatible for this feature (there were only 30 million buyable pins at launch) and of course, the buy button could not be used by Android users.

However, the social network also announced that the buyable Pins are now available on the Android app, allowing users to purchase over 60 million products without having to leave the app.

Users will know when an item is available to buy when the Pin features a blue price. Simply tap on "Buy it" to be taken directly to checkout. The social network will save your payment info, so the next time you want to buy an item, you won't have to fuss around with the extra steps.

To ensure that everything is legit, Pinterest reviews and approves every seller on the app so that you can feel better about buying from some random stranger.

The Pinterest Shop will launch over the next couple of weeks.
