Supergirl is quickly learning that with great power comes great responsibility, and with notoriety comes a big target on your back.
On Monday night's episode, Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) was trying to balance her work and superhero life, while putting on a brave face and attempting to fit in with humans.
As if she doesn't already have enough on her plate, things are about to get just a bit more explosive.
In the promo for next week's episode, titled "Fight or Flight," Kara will come to face-to-face with Reactron, a familiar villainous face in comics books.
In the comics, Reactron (alter ego Benjamin Martin Krull) is a radioactive baddie who is often referred to as "The Living Reactor." This villain was serving in the U.S. Army alongside Doom Patrol when he became accidentally exposed to nuclear radiation that transformed him into a being with the ability to generate radioactive energy and blasts. Reactron is known for battling both Doom Patrol and Supergirl in the comics, but Supergirl receives advice from Superman regarding this villain's weakness in order to defeat him.
Next week, Reactron (played by Sons of Anarchy alum Chris Browning) crashes the party in search of Supergirl, causing Kara to suit up to face the baddie. She even mentions punching him really hard if he doesn't want to listen, which is a perfect inside jab for fans of the comics. Also, he isn't the only one looking to find out who the superheroine is.
Directed by Dermott Downs and written by Michael Grassi and Rachel Shukert, the official synopsis for "Fight or Flight" is as follows:
Supergirl's powers are tested when Reactron, one of Superman's formidable enemies, arrives in National City and targets the young hero. Also, Cat plans to run an exposé on Supergirl.
Peter Facinelli (Twilight) will also guest star as tech entrepreneur Maxwell Lord in next week's episode.
