The wait for Duncan Jones' Warcraft adaptation has been a long one. Footage has been shown at San Diego Comic Con for several years now, but the footage has never officially found its way online.
That will change this Friday, Nov. 6, when the full trailer for Warcraft debuts at Blizzard's annual Blizzcon convention at the Anaheim Convention Center. But while you have to wait until the end of the week to see whether or not Jones' will do justice to Blizzard's high-fantasy video game saga, you can check out an impressive new poster as well as some new images from the film right now.
We'll start with a few new screens from the film. The first is a close-up of Durotan, the leader of the orcs and one of the film's lead characters. The CGI work on display here is impressive and very accurately captures the character's look from the games.
Another image shows Durotan's primary enemy: the human king Llane Wrynn, played by Dominic Cooper. You can also get another look at Ogrim Doomhammer, named after the legendary warhammer he wields in battle.
Warcraft will no doubt be a CGI heavy film, with more than half of the film's cast being CGI characters. Much of the environments will be virtually created too, as Blizzard's world of Azeroth is too over-the-top to create any other way.
We will have to wait for the trailer to see how it all comes together, but a new poster for the film gives fans a glimpse at what the expect. It highlights the core conflict at the heart of the Warcraft universe, as the orcs and humans struggle to co-exist and instead seem to find themselves in a never ending state of war.
Warcraft will invade theaters on June 10, 2016. Be sure to check back later this week for the official trailer.
