The Kennett Square police department received reports of candy bars with a "needle-type item" inside in a Philadelphia suburb, urging parents to double check all of their children's candies.
The police department posted the news on Facebook to warn citizens of the crime. On the evening of Oct. 31, 2015, four children aged 7 to 12 reportedly received the tampered Twix bars. But another report came in soon after.
"Another incident was reported where a needle was said to have been found in a Snickers candy bar. The child from this incident visited streets from D st south to the area of Center and South sts. No one has been injured in these incidents. This investigation is ongoing with assistance from the Chester County Detectives. This additional incident was reported to KSPD the afternoon of Nov 1, 2015," the Kennett Square police department says through a Facebook post.
Fortunately, there are no reported injuries.
The case was brought to light when an unknown source posted about finding a needle inside a chocolate bar. A parent of one of the children saw the post and inspected his children's candy bars, where needles inside snack-size Twix bars were found.
The Kennett Square police department also advises everyone to check any leftover candy for signs of tampering. The contents and packaging of the reported tampered candies have also been submitted for processing and examination.
Tampered candies this Halloween has been rampant, as similar reports from other areas also came in. For instance, a Reynoldsburg girl reportedly found a razor inside a candy bar. However, not all cases are genuine, as the Auburn, Massachussetts police department uncovered a hoax that a girl reported.
"After interviewing her along with her mother, it has been determined that the entire story was a fabrication created by the child," the Auburn MA police department says via a Facebook post.
Everyone is cautioned to thoroughly inspect the candies gathered this Halloween.
