Actor B.D. Wong is no stranger to playing roles as characters that are in charge of labs that experiment on monsters. The Jurassic World actor previously took on the role as geneticist Dr. Henry Wu in last summer's blockbuster, and he will now have the pleasure of running the secret lab of Gotham City's Arkham Asylum.
It has been confirmed that Wong is joining the cast of Fox's hit TV series Gotham as DC Comics' brilliant but insane psychiatrist Hugo Strange.
In Monday's episode of Gotham, we finally saw a glimpse of the Indian Hill facility that is located on the asylum grounds. The secret lab has previously been described as a "toxic waste dump on top of an Indian burial ground," and is home to the black-ops program run by Wayne Enterprises that has the goal of creating the "ultimate super hero ... or super villain."
It is the home of certain "monsters," [spoiler ahead!] with Firefly recently added to the list of inmates after being captured by the GCPD.
Fox revealed to ComicBook.com that Dr. Hugo Strange will be hired to be in charge Arkham Asylum, and at first seems like he is genuinely taking strides to rehabilitate the villainous patients. However, "he harbors a dark secret" that will make him "Gotham's greatest threat," as we will learn that he is actually the man behind the secret lab.
Dr. Strange made his first appearance in Detective Comics No. 36 that was released in 1940, which means he predates notorious villains like the Joker.
Along with his role in Jurassic World, Wong played Father Ray on HBO's Oz, and forensic psychiatrist Dr. George Huang on Law & Order: SVU.
Gotham airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
