A Bentley phone is set to launch this coming October. The British luxury automaker has partnered with Vertu to come up with a special handset. Vertu, another luxury brand, is working on a luxury smartphone to be introduced in the next few months.
Vertu and Bentley agreed to introduce four luxury phones but no information when the other three will be released. The high-end phones are described to feature impressive performance, integrated technology, elegance, great craftsmanship, and stylish design. Since Vertu and Bentley represent luxury, expect this one to be an expensive, luxury phone.
"Exclusive Bentley content will appeal to drivers, travellers and brand enthusiasts, through a partnership that delivers on both technology and touch. Today, we see the marriage of two great brands with an international presence and quintessential British heritage and character. The unique experience of luxury and performance inherent in every Bentley has now found further expression in the world's most desirable mobile phone," said Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer.
Vertu has signed a five-year partnership with Bentley, with Vertu Massimiliano Pogliani, Vertu CEO, announcing the deal.
Because both brands are known for their luxury, the Vertu Bentley phones are projected to appeal to the rich and famous.
Vertu has been known to make expensive smartphones filled with diamonds and precious metals. The lowest phone costs $11,000. With the Bentley name being added, the new phone could command an even higher price tag.
The new luxury smartphone is the second model from Vertu in partnership with another car brand. The first deal was with Ferrari when they launched the Ferrari Vertu Ascent last 2005 with a $25,000 price tag.
This move by Vertu is one of the firsts made by the company since CEO Perry Oosting left his post last year in June.
"All at Vertu are positive about the prospects for the business and have hinted at a strong product roadmap that will see a number of innovative new products brought to market over the next 24 months," Vertu said.
Bentley is excited to work with another brand that knows luxury and is committed to customer experience and performance.
