In the world of smartphones, there are also concept ones that are seemingly out of this world or would be impossible to see someday, and one was recently introduced by Motorola via the Lenovo Tech World '23. In the company's recent showcase, it debuted a "slap bracelet-like" smartphone that can cling to one's wrist or be bent in other forms thanks to its flexible display technology.

Smartphones today are either flat or foldable, with the folding devices seeing better technology and development for a more adaptive experience to fit one's needs.

new release from Motorola debuts a concept smartphone that it introduced earlier at Lenovo's tech showcase, and this new adaptive display device, which remains unnamed, is one to take the spotlight.

Engadget regards this design to resemble a "slap bracelet," a kids' accessory that is straight, but when bent in the middle or slapped against an object, would curl to the surface's shape. It was mostly slapped onto an arm and used for accessorizing one's style.

According to Motorola, "This adaptive display concept further builds upon the display and mechanical innovations from our foldable and rollable devices in both the smartphone and PC categories."

There was an earlier concept device from Motorola that resembles this adaptive display that can be strapped to one's arms.

Adaptive, Flexible Display Moto Smartphone

No, it is not a wearable, per se, but users may wrap it around their wrists for a hands-free experience on the smartphone, having massive flexibility that users may adjust depending on their liking.

It has a 6.9" screen when folded flat, and apart from using it as a wearable device, users may also flex the smartphone to stand by itself, with different stand modes available.

Best Foldable Concepts in the Past

Concept phones are wild and they bring massive possibilities for the future development of devices, but not all smartphones continue to become production-ready tech from companies. One of the most famous concepts in tech is the LG Rollable, a device that was introduced at CES 2021, but was later canceled by the South Korean company, alongside the shutdown of its smartphone division.

Foldables, rollables, and the like have been famous among the public, especially for those looking forward to the new age of smartphones, featuring unique designs. Probably another remarkable concept smartphone is Motorola's Felix, a rollable which is the opposite of what people think about these types of tech, as its screen rolls up to bring a taller or longer display for users.

There is no shortage of concepts and developments from tech companies to bring the next big thing in the industry, particularly for the folding smartphones that we have now. Motorola is taking foldable to the next level, as it allows the massive adaptability and flexibility of not just its screens, but also its body, offering a unique experience that users may mold into anything, including being a wearable.
