The news came out during the earnings call of the new company, Warner Bros. Discovery, from its CEO. 

HBO Max Discovery Plus Merger to Arrive in Summer 2023

Warner Bros. Discovery's latest earnings call for the Q2 2022 report talked about its latest venture that would come in the future, and it is the merger of two streaming platforms from when the companies were initially separate.

It is the transition of HBO Max and Discovery Plus into one application, with new features to come in its release. The previous reports all centered on rumors and speculations in the industry, but in this earnings report, the company's CEO, David Zaslav, confirmed that the service is coming by the summer of 2023 for all subscribers. 

The upcoming app will combine the content of HBO Max and take the technology that makes Discovery Plus' service a significant one among streaming platforms for next year's availability.

What Will HBO Max Discovery Plus be Called? 

According to The Verge, Zaslav and Warner Bros. Discovery did not yet give a new name to the service to arrive in 2023, but it will focus on having a new experience and feature for all. The HBO Max and Discovery Plus service will not have separate platforms for the world but will focus on a single app for all their needs. 

HBO Max and Discovery Plus in One

HBO Max is on the verge of its growth as a streaming platform, and it aims to catch up to industry giants, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, and other known names. 

The company is famous for its significant titles available on the platform that focus on shows that HBO Originals produced, including "Game of Thrones," "Euphoria," "Westworld," "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver," and more. 

The streaming platform is also giving subscribers new features to enjoy, and it includes the addition of a shuffle button like what other platforms offer on their services. 

On the other hand, Discovery Plus is a new platform that aims to break its ground in the streaming industry, offering significant documentaries and wildlife shows. It also brings other informative titles and experiences there. 

Nevertheless, its different focus on streams and content will change soon, as it will merge into one app that brings a unified experience of what its parent company wants for the platform. The new app will arrive by 2023, and the world will experience the new HBO Max Discovery Plus platform that remains nameless up to now.
