By the colorway alone, it's easy to tell that HP wants to make a splash with its new 14-inch Chromebook 14.
How else could you explain HP offering a sky blue colorway of its slim new laptop? Yes, the bold colorway—which includes a blue interior and white lid—jumps out at you. But HP's new Chromebook packs a punch for other reasons as well, those other reasons being the perks offered.
Equipped with a $250 price tag and expected in time for the holiday season, HP's Chromebook 14 laptop includes a two-year 100 GB Google Drive account and three Google Play movie rentals, as reported by CNET. While those are valuable perks by themselves, frequent flyers will be ecstatic to know that the laptop also includes a year's worth of free GoGo in-flight Internet service to keep users connected while traveling.
Considering the bonuses included in this year's HP Chromebook, and the fact that it's down $50 in cost from last year's offering, it's more than worth the price.
Like competing Chromebooks, though, this HP offering doesn't do anything spectacular, but it undercuts the cost of a higher-powered laptop, continuing to make it an ideal, low-cost option. As seen in prior Chromebook models, the HP Chromebook 14 doesn't allow users to install most Windows and Mac software, nor does it offer much storage space, but for pure Google Chrome web browsing alone, it's a solid option.
The 14-inch display comes strapped with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and 1,366 x 768 IPS display. The laptop also includes 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB onboard storage with one USB 3.0 port and two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI outlet and a battery life of 9.25 hours.
