Remember when those see-through Gameboys were all the rage? Well, Reddit user Skarface08 is bringing them back, but this time, with a Galaxy Note 5.
Anything like this has been unheard of, as the more typical choices to customize gadgets are buying a case, buying a back cover or fiddling with the wallpaper, icons, widgets or whatever. On Skarface08's case, however, those options just didn't seem to cut it, so with a razor blade, a suction cup and a heat gun, the Reddit user stripped the colored film and got a sweet-looking clear back cover that showcases the Galaxy Note 5's internals. But the Samsung logo and Galaxy Note 5 label surprisingly remain intact through the process.
To do this, gather the necessary equipment mentioned earlier. Simply heat up the back cover, use the suction cup to take it off and use the razor blade to peel off the colored film. But Skarface08 probably explains it better.
"You first have to heat it up. I use an Ecoheat gun that gets it really hot, then use a suction cup to pry the back off. After that you let it cool off a bit and take off all the film with a razor blade. Then i just stuck it back on the phone because there was already adhesive on the actual device," the Reddit user posted on /r/galaxynote5.
Redditors got a dose of nostalgia when they saw the Galaxy Note 5 with a mechanical look, and they asked for pictured instructions on how to do it themselves, which Skarface08 complied with.
The process seems pretty simple, but some users aren't brave enough to try it out because taking apart and putting such an expensive device at risk is not for the faint of heart. But when you do this successfully, you got yourself one awesome-looking Galaxy Note 5.
