Microsoft Japan has introduced a lineup of smartphones that will be running on Windows 10 Mobile from a range of makers. Takuya Hirano, president of the tech firm, revealed that NuAns, Acer, Freetel, Mouse Computer and Thirdwave are among the manufacturers to support the OS, but what got people talking is the Vaio smartphone with Windows 10 out of the box.

Microsoft's Lumia 950 and 950 XL were designed to target a niche market so that the tech company could return in the smartphone scene strong, but it seems that they aren't the only Windows 10 Mobile contenders to battle it out with the dominating iOS and Android.

Vaio is Sony's former laptop division until it was sold off in 2014, and in March, it unveiled a mid-range Android smartphone that runs on Android Lollipop. And now the tech firm plans to launch a Windows 10 Mobile handset powered by Microsoft's Continuum technology.

While Vaio only announced that its Windows 10 Mobile smartphone is in the works, some of the other tech companies showed off a couple of their handsets that will be running Windows 10 Mobile at the event.

First off, the 15-person startup NuAns made quite an impression with its remarkable NuAns NEO concept. Thirdwave also turned heads when it showcased its Diginnos Mobile DG-W10M that sports a quad-core CPU. Coming up next is Acer's Liquid M330, which was already introduced even before the event took place and is said to be scheduled for release in December. Lastly, Freetel presented its impressive Katana 02.

Vaio's upcoming device is expected to roll out sometime next year.

Unfortunately, there is still no word whether or not the upcoming Windows 10-powered handsets will be distributed globally, but it's clear that Windows 10 Mobile is not out of the game yet, and it is showing a lot of promise with all the support it's getting.
