Xiaomi's Mi Note 2, the expected successor to the China-based company's Mi Note Pro, is rumored to have a release date of Nov. 5, which could be too early for the device to come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The Mi Note Pro is one of the best devices that Xiaomi has released in terms of specifications. According to prolific leaker Leaksfly, the Mi Note 2 will continue the tradition of featuring top-of-the-line specifications and features for a comparatively affordable price compared to the flagship devices of rival smartphone manufacturing companies.
The claimed specifications for the Mi Note 2 include the device featuring a 5.7-inch display with resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels for a pixel density of 515 pixels per inch. The Mi Note 2 is also said to be powered by 4GB worth of RAM and will pack an internal memory storage of 32GB.
The Mi Note 2 is also expected to have the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner of Qualcomm, plus a 16MP rear camera. The pre-installed operating system for the device is said to be Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
It is also rumored that the Mi Note 2 will have a full metal body, along with 4G LTE support. The metallic body would make it look stronger and more premium compared to previous devices launched by Xiaomi, further adding to the possibility that the device can legitimately challenge the flagship devices of more prominent brands such as Apple and Samsung.
Because of the claimed Nov. 5 release, the Mi Note 2 could possibly be powered by MediaTek's Helio X20 chip. The chipset has a deca-core CPU, but it is also possible that once 2016 comes, Xiaomi could release Mi Note 2 vaiants that will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset.
The inclusion of the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner could depend on the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which means that the feature could be seen in the later versions of the device, if Xiaomi does intend to release such models.
In other news, Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch the Mi 5 smartphone and the Mi Pad 2 tablet within the year. The Mi 5 is claimed to be released with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 installed.
