Jessica Biel Talks Sex-ed In New Video Series

New mom, Jessica Biel is teaming up with WomanCare Global to make a series of sex-ed videos to help young women know more about their bodies. The sexy TV and film actress shared that when she and hubby Justin Timberlake were trying to conceive their first baby, she never realized before that she knew so little about her own body and how it worked.

Like many young women trying to have a baby, she thought that she could simply go off birth control and conceive.

But then, she began thinking about the fact that she had been on the pill for so long that she wondered if that would affect her chances of having a child and her ability to have a baby naturally.

This is why Biel is teaming up with Saundra Pelletier, founder of the non-profit held care org, WomanCare Global. The two women want to make sure that girls everywhere do not have to go through the same confusion and cluelessness about their bodies as they did.

According to an interview they did with Glamour, Biel and Pelletier found a connection when they met when they shared with each other their ignorance about how their bodies as women worked.

That, coupled with the fact that only 22 states in the U.S. require public schools to teach sexual education in their curriculum, pushed them to launch an online video series about everything a woman should know from puberty to contraception, menstrual cups, tampons, and conception to pregnancy.

Biel says the video series will appeal to girls who should never be ashamed of the natural things their bodies go through, such as menstruation.

"We share girl stories, fears, and insecurities. The tone is informative but also goofy, smart, witty," she explains.

Pelletier shares Biel's passion for their project to educate women via online videos plus other online and new media options that they are exploring.

“We need to get young adults this information in a variety of ways." Says Pelletier: "There is power and dignity in understanding your body," she says.

The sex-ed video series is available to view at the WomenCare Global website.
