Forget hammer or drop tests of new mobile phones to test their durability, because if there's one test that surpasses all, it is this: a real bullet shot through the heart of Nokia Lumia 520.
What happened before and after is an interesting story.
A Brazilian military police officer kept his Lumia 520 in the back pocket that surprisingly saved his life after taking in the bullet that was intended for the 24-year-old police officer, according to a report by Globo.com.
On May 1, the police officer, who was off duty at Sao Paulo, arrived at his parents' house to bring his uniform for washing, only to find out that a robber was looting the place and holding his parents and another relative hostage. The robber, who was inside the house, immediately shot a couple of rounds at the police officer, possibly after seeing the latter's police uniform. The accomplice of the robber was said to be on a bike outside the house.
One bullet missed the young police officer and hit the gate of a neighbor's house, and the other bullet meanwhile hit the heart of his Lumia 520 phone kept in his back pocket, instead of going through his buttocks. The police officer would have been injured at the buttocks, but thanks to his smartphone he was not. The smartphone, however, was somehow crushed to its death.
The robbers who got away were not yet caught as of this writing, although the military police was in hot pursuit of the two criminals. The robbers were able to take with them several items such as jewelry, mobile phones, money, watches and other family possessions.
The heroic act of the Lumia phone revived the sleeping reputation of Nokia. Talks about how Nokia truly produced durable devices, such as the Nokia 3310, suddenly abound online.
