Halo 5: Guardians will be getting a special, limited edition Xbox One console bundle later this year.
The news comes via Halo 5 studio head Josh Holmes, who in response to a fan question on Twitter confirmed that Microsoft is indeed working on a limited edition console bundle that will launch alongside Halo 5 when the game launches this fall.
Though Holmes has since deleted his tweet, here is what he had to say in response to a fan inquiring about the existence of a Halo 5 Xbox One:
"There is a limited edition console coming, yes," Holmes said. "It hasn't been revealed yet, but it's pretty sweet. :)"
No other details about the console are known at this time, but expect Microsoft to make an official announcement in the near future.
Limited Edition Xbox One Bundles in the past have sold out quickly and include the 1 terabyte hard drive Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Xbox One as well as the white Sunset Overdrive Xbox One console. Both bundles included versions of their respective games, as well as a unique console and matching controller. You can see the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare console below.
Expect this Halo 5 console to feature a unique design for sure, but will it include a larger hard drive (and a larger price tag) like the Advanced Warfare bundle before it? Hard to say for sure, but at the rate the hard drives of Xbox One owners are filling up, it wouldn't be too surprising if Microsoft started pushing for larger hard drive sizes to compensate for the ever increasing size of game downloads and installs. We won't know anything for sure until Microsoft officially unveils the bundle, however.
Halo 5: Guardians arrives on Xbox One Oct. 27, 2015. You can read up on our impressions from the game's multiplayer beta here, as well as get up to speed on the game's mysterious marketing campaign.
