KFC is certainly making a name for itself when it comes to selling quirky food products. The latest? A coffee cup you can eat.
It's called the "Scoff-ee Cup". Instead of serving coffee in a regular cup like normal humans, KFC will be selling at least some of their coffee in edible cups made from sugar paper, biscuit and heat-resistant white chocolate. The chocolate is said to help keep the coffee hot while also keeping the cup itself crisp.
The cup is the creation of The Robin Collective. One of Robin Collective's founders, Brandy Wright, tells the Telegraph that each cup is also infused with "ambient aromas" that include freshly cut grass, coconut sun cream and wild flowers.
"These scents were used in our recipes as they have a natural ability to evoke the positive memories we associate with warm weather, sunshine and summer holidays," Wright says. "Things that make everyone smile."
Ahuh. Freshly cut grass you say? Tell me why I would want to eat this again?
Sadly, most people will never get the chance to try out the edible cup, at least for now. Just like the Double Down Dog, the Scoff-ee Cup isn't likely to make its way stateside anytime soon. It will instead be tested in a small number of KFC locations in the UK to mark the launch of KFC's Seattle Best Coffee.
As strange as the "Scoff-ee Cup" is, it is just as strange that KFC is selling coffee to begin with. Weird.
