Overwatch 2 gamers rejoice! Activision Blizzard no longer requires users to grind it out on the Battle Pass to unlock the heroes on its roster and enjoy what they have to offer in the free-to-play game.

This means that starting in Season 10, Heroes will no longer be locked behind Battle Pass progressions or via the in-game store, as the developers revealed in their latest update.

This new direction applies to all the previous, current, and upcoming heroes that are making their way to Overwatch 2, but other purchases are not part of this massive freebie.

The latest developer update from Activision Blizzard's Overwatch 2 team announced massive changes coming in Season 10, including free access to all the game's heroes in the next update.

Game director Aaron Keller addressed this new gaming experience for all, citing the "immediate access" to the heroes in Overwatch 2 coming to all players.

Keller also said that the upcoming new hero, Venture, will be instantly available from the roster for players to use, alongside the previous releases available in the game.

However, it is not only that, as Overwatch 2's future hero releases would also be part of the free and immediate access. According to Keller, "Heroes would no longer be unlocked through the Battle Pass."

What to Expect from Overwatch 2's Season 10

Apart from Season 10's Free access to all Heroes, Overwatch 2 will also bring a dedicated part of its in-game shop to offer Mythic Skins from previous releases, those obtained in previous season progression or purchases. Additionally, users may earn more in the game as it will now give 600 coins from 540.

There is also an upcoming new mode called Clash rolling out as a trial in Season 10.

Activision Blizzard and Overwatch 2

A massive hype surrounded Overwatch 2 when it was preparing for its release almost two years ago. It followed up on the famed first-person shooter from Activision Blizzard, which debuted in 2016. However, once the sequel was released, it was plagued by negative reviews from gamers, fans, and content creators despite being a free-to-play title.

However, it did not stop there, as while it was a free-to-play game, there were massive aspects of the title where Activision Blizzard charged gamers with fees, calling it a "purely profit-driven move." This points to one of Overwatch 2's featured modes, the PvE, which asked for $15 payments for permanent access to Story Missions in Invasion.

Significant backlash went to Activision Blizzard's way, but the game lives on and still sees development until now.

With gamers' for-profit complaints, developers are now making Overwatch 2's heroes freely accessible for all, even for those without Battle Passes or other additional purchases, coming this Season 10.
