The renowned chip manufacturer, Qualcomm, launched an "app store for AI," calling this the new "AI Hub" which offers as many as 75 models accessible for free. However, several catches come with it, as these models are only available for certain devices, but they already come as pre-optimized AI models that users may enjoy for their respective gadgets.

Various AI models available on a certain hub were seen before from OpenAI's GPT store, mainly focusing on GPT-based apps from its partner developers.

Back in Qualcomm's MWC 2024 showcase, the company unveiled its latest dive towards the world of artificial intelligence with its official launch of the AI Hub. Through this platform, over 75 AI models are available to download and access for free, centering on an all-inclusive library featuring pre-optimized experiences for users, depending on their needs.

Some of the supported experiences available here are computer vision, anomaly detection, and natural language processing while focusing on high performance with minimal energy consumption.

It offers a mix of AI and generative AI models from renowned names in the industry including Stable Diffusion, Whisper, Baichuan 7B, ControlNet, and more.

What's The Catch from Qualcomm's AI Hub?

AI Hub is offering an extensive list of AI models available on the platform, but the catch is, that users have to use Qualcomm devices or Snapdragon-equipped gadgets for this access. Its main goal is to optimize the experience for mobile and edge devices, leveraging Qualcomm's AI Engine hardware acceleration present on its cores like CPU, GPU, and NPU.

The on-device AI experiences via the AI Hub leverages more of the many models available for users to enjoy, centering on Qualcomm's power to deliver artificial intelligence and make it more accesible for all.

AI Models, Apps from App Stores

The massive presence of AI is felt across the tech industry already, and while it was initially available via the web, certain developers offered this artificial intelligence access through apps from famed app stores. In Apple's App Store, there are already ChatGPT alternatives to enjoy for the iPhone that require no subscriptions to fully access, and the same goes for Google's Play Store.

OpenAI's renowned take on its large language model (LLM), GPT, also debuted the GPT Store which features developments turned to custom AI chatbots, assistants, experiences, and more to use for apps and browsers. Its formal launch this early 2024, it already featured as many as three million custom chatbots, alongside other AI experiences available from those using OpenAI's GPT.

Through this AI app store-like platform, users are given more access to incorporating AI into their everyday needs or for specific purposes, widely available here. This take from Qualcomm, offers the AI Hub with free access for everyone, with the only catch being that it is only available for Qualcomm devices and Snapdragon-equipped tech, pre-optimized for their convenience.
