CD Projekt Red's AnsweRED podcast released its second episode, and it revealed a lot about the sequel title that will succeed the controversial Cyberpunk 2077's original release. With its previous development seeing a good eight years before it was released, the drop of this sequel title codenamed "Orion" remains unknown, with CDPR not mentioning anything about it.

Still, it is something expected to have a grand launch like its predecessor, centering on a first-person open-world-esque game that will continue the experience.

Here's What to Expect says the Director

Nevertheless, this recent podcast featured Philipp Weber, CDPR's narrative director, who talked about several expectations in this sequel title. First off, the developers are looking to capture a feature it introduced before, and this was a controversial one that did not get much love from gamers.

This is the 'life path' where gamers are given the option to choose which path to head down, from being a commoner in Night City to working as an executive in a fancy office, or the desert. The team claimed that they were aware of the not-so-good experiences before and promised to do better in the Orion project.

In the future release, the company would center on improving this, as it has learned a lot along the way, offering different narratives depending on gamers' choice, but unfold to bring the massive story this sequel would offer.

Cyberpunk 2077 Franchise

While it was one of the most anticipated games in history since it was first announced in 2012, the company faced massive backlash from the community when CDPR first released the game in 2020. This led to the company allowing games to refund the game and get their money back, but it also led to multiple lawsuits from unsatisfied gamers citing its poor state.

However, the franchise was not entirely all that bad, especially as it saw spinoffs and related content which provided excellent experiences for all, getting a warm welcome from many. In particular, there is the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime adaptation of the game from Netflix and CD Projekt Red, and this saw wide success and critical acclaim.

Moreover, there is also the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC which was also a success for the franchise, better received compared to the original game.

With a long wait and a rocky start for the Cyberpunk franchise, many thought that it was a dead end for CDPR, but that is not the case, as Orion, a.k.a. the sequel, is set for the future, offering a chance to carve your path, in a better experience for all.
