Microsoft Edge v117 is Removing Five Features Based on Beta—Do You Need These?

The upcoming version of Microsoft Edge, known as version 117, is set to remove five features that will simplify the experience for users on the "More Tools" menu found in the browser. These five tools have been with Microsoft Edge's offers for a long time for users, but they are either unused or seldomly accessed as not all are aware that there are other features on the browser.

While most users that utilize web browsers search for everything that they need online, some tools prove to be helpful, where one does not need to add extensions or apps to get this experience.

Reports by 9to5 Google and Neowin have claimed that Microsoft's latest beta for Edge 117 has confirmed that it is removing as many as five features or tools that are available on the browser previously. This centers on features including the Math Solver, Picture Dictionary, Citations, Grammar Tools, and Kids Mode that were previously available or still are with the current version.

According to Microsoft's recent release notes on its beta channel for the Edge browser, these features have faced "depreciation" throughout, and the recent discovery shows that these will no longer exist in the new version.

In version 117, the company aims to improve the end user experience and "simplify the More Tools menu" hence the removal of these features.

Do You Need These Features on Edge?

It is unknown how much of these tools are bothering users or if Microsoft is getting significant complaints about these features for them to be removed on Edge 117.

Still, these were nifty built-in features from Microsoft that help access better experiences for users, especially with the Math Solver and Kids Mode. Despite this, these will not bring massive changes to Edge and will not affect the regular browser experience.

Microsoft greatly improved throughout the years, and it is a far-advanced browser when compared to the software company's previous default, Internet Explorer. The company has come a long way since it first introduced the Edge browser, and it has been regarded as one of the fastest browsers in the present, complete with better security and privacy.

It has previously ousted Safari as the second-most popular browser in the world, with the top spot still claimed by Google's Chrome.

The Edge browser has been a significant complement to Microsoft's development of the AI-superpowered Bing website which is known to use OpenAI's GPT large language model to address user needs.

The Microsoft experience was completed with Edge, and the company has significantly developed the browser to enter the ring against other industry giants including Apple, Google, Mozilla, Opera, and more. However, in its upcoming public release of version 117, Edge will see fewer features to access, with Microsoft lessening the load on its tools to improve the experience.
